Learning for Life - "Our vision is of a caring, happy school community where we build confidence, inspire a love of learning and have high aspirations for all".
Year 1 learnt all about 'The Great Fire of London'. The children made their own Pudding lane houses. Then Douglas Fire Brigade came and set fire to them, showing us how quickly the fire would spread.
Year 1 went to Garey ny Cloie in St John's to hunt for the Gruffalo and his friends. We also created some fabulous art using natural objects in the style of Andy Goldsworthy and we met Dawn from the MWT who told all about the trees and wildlife there.
Year 1 children had a 'Lighthouse Keepers Picnic' on our school field. We did some drama from the story and ate some yummy lighthouse/seaside food that we had made.
Today we had a dress down day for Children in Need.
Today we wore pink or purple clothes to school for the Manx Cancer Support Group and Polio Awareness. Donations that were made is to be split equally between the two charities. Many thanks for your support.
Today the author Simon Murray came to our school to read one of his books and show us how he illustrated it. He drew the character Icky Doo Dah and showed us how to draw it too.
